The new Grange University Hospital (GUH) in Gwent, South Wales, opened its doors on 18th November to patients, four months ahead of schedule. The hospital has 24-hour specialist assessment, intensive care and comprehensive diagnostic facilities, along with inpatient beds for major emergencies and complex surgery.

The new Circle Birmingham Rehabilitation Hospital opened on the 1st September 2020. It will treat patients recovering from neurological conditions and musculoskeletal issues, along with providing specific services for people with arthritis, heart conditions and those receiving treatment for cancer.

Bristol Maid has established itself as market leader when it comes to understanding and developing innovative solutions that will assist the delivery of intravenous therapy. Holding an impressive portfolio with models suitable for use with conventional gravity using an infusion stand as well as those for use with syringe & pump drivers mounted onto specialist pump stands.
The polyurethane, easy clean range of infusion stands sets the bar when it comes to fit, form and function, featuring a five leg base with low centre of gravity to assist stability, whilst a unique polyurethane overmoulding, provides a water and impact resistant finish, allowing for easy and effective cleaning. 50mm polypropylene / thermoplastic rubber twin-wheel non-marking castors are fitted throughout, whilst an optional handle keeps feet clear of the base, assists manoeuvrability and improves patient safety.
Colour indicator caps available in spearmint, blue, green, red and yellow assists department identification and reduces the risk of cross contamination. Infusion bags are suspended on a height adjustable upright fitted with two / four pigtail hooks, featuring a unique design to ensure that bags can be placed on easily without risk of tearing, however, importantly cannot be knocked off accidentally. The polyurethane range is suitable for use with up to 4kg on the hooks and 4kg on the fixed upright.
Where syringe & pump drivers are used to treat patients for extended periods of time, we recommend that a specialist pump stand is used. The mild steel, four leg range features a fully welded base and is fitted with 75mm polypropylene / thermoplastic rubber twin-wheel castors. Syringe and pump drivers can be attached to either a 32mm diameter upright or 25mm diameter pump support bows.
Infusion bags are supported on a height adjustable upright fitted with four U shaped hooks. Stands are suitable for use with up to 12kg on the hooks and 22kg on the fixed upright/s.

The NHS Nightingale Hospital Birmingham is the second temporary hospital set up by NHS England to help combat the COVID-19 pandemic. It was constructed inside Birmingham’s NEC (National Exhibition Centre) with a potential capacity of 4,000 beds.
Bristol Maid, a leading UK manufacturer of medical furniture & equipment, were called upon to assist with the project, supplying over 80 of the company’s signature Caretray, Linen and General-Purpose trolleys. Due to the urgency of the matter at hand, Bristol Maid were given the task of fulfilling the requirement within just 48 hours. The new Nightingale Hospital Birmingham, which will be admitting Covid-19 patients from 23 other hospitals in the Midlands, was officially opened by His Royal Highness the Duke of Cambridge, along with Secretary of State for Health & Social Care Matt Hancock, and Mayor Andy Street on 16th April 2020.

With Covid-19 solutions being sought around the country, a new NHS Nightingale Hospital is set to open in Exeter, and the rapid new development will have the capacity to provide 200 extra beds for coronavirus patients. Bristol Maid, in the neighbouring county of Dorset, have been called upon to assist with the project, and were able to supply a crucial order of the company’s signature Caretray Trolleys.
The new NHS Nightingale Hospital Exeter – opening in June 2020 – is one of seven confirmed Nightingale hospitals commissioned to combat the Covid-19 pandemic. The facility will be hosted by the Royal Devon & Exeter NHS Foundation Trust, and supported by the other five hospitals in Devon and Cornwall. The other hospitals will continue to primarily focus on providing care for the critically ill, and plans are in place to expand both counties’ critical care capacity to a combined 500 beds.
